Rev’d Up Fun is one family’s answer to a need Downriver for entertainment space that’s good for all ages.

“One of our main purposes in opening Rev’d Up was to bring families together. It’s a place where families can come and make memories together. So that’s what we wanted to be able to happen on all of our attractions,” says General Manager, Zach Johnson, whose parents, Kevin and Sandy Johnson, opened the business after 12 years of successfully owning and operating an outdoor amusement rental business.

After plenty of research, and visiting family entertainment centers across the country, the Johnsons leased 30,000 square feet inside a former Kmart. And in August 2018, Rev’d Up Fun was open. With a tag line of “Play, Eat, Be Happy,” Rev’d Up Fun brings a lot to the table, and unlike many similar spaces, it’s a place where adults and children can enjoy themselves equally. “We have attractions that kids enjoy, but we are a facility where adults and parents can feel comfortable and have fun on their own without the kids. And we tried to be intentional in creating that atmosphere,” explains Zach.

Visiting Rev’d Up Fun is an exciting experience that’s different on each visit depending on which attractions, or combination of attractions, guests choose to partake in. At the font of the facility is their newest addition, an ax-throwing room. At the far rear of the facility is the Automotive Alley Ballocity (pronounced like velocity), a three-story playscape with five slides and multiple interactive elements such as ball shooters, a dump bucket, and ball fountain. According to Zach, the lower level’s seven feet entry allows parents to engage in play with their children, something the Johnsons are very passionate about.

The two-story, vintage junkyard themed Laser Tag arena is professionally designed with the latest technology system and can be enjoyed by 24 participants at once. Players can compete against each other or work in teams to rack up points, and soon, Rev’d Up Fun Will be connected to a worldwide portal where players can track their scores.

Rev’d up fun’s Game Zone also boasts an impressive variety of arcade games, many of which award points redeemable for prizes. Game credit to play as well at reward points are loaded onto a game card, so there is no struggle to keep up with piles of tickets or game tokens. Above the Game Zone is a ropes course with 13 different elements as well as a 65-foot zip line.

Another popular attraction is the virtual reality coaster, which seats eight, and Zach describes as being like a Disney interactive ride, moving along with the action on screen. Coaster riders shoot at virtual monsters, collecting points and competing against other riders.

Finally, there is the Spin Zone Bumper Cars. These cars are specially designed to spin 360 degrees and move with ease for a thrilling ride. Add music and lights, and it’s a blast from beginning to end.

The food at Rev’d Up Fun’s cafe is also surprisingly delightful, serving traditional arcade foods such as pizza and assorted appetizers as well as salads and craft burgers. Adults can even enjoy a glass or wine or beer at the bar while they watch their kids play. “We want people to enjoy eating here, that’s why we’re always trying to make improvements on our menu and keep it fresh and updated,” says Zach.

Rev’d Up Fun is also well known for their parties, each of which is assigned a specially trained party mechanic who entertains the group from the moment they arrive in every capacity, this includes going on attractions, doing magic tricks, and just overall guiding every moment to ensure the fun never ends. Outside of the parties, Rev’s Up Fun hosts many events throughout the year from themed character visits like Frozen’s Anna and Elsa to a Mardi Gras party night that’s exclusive for adults after 9 p.m.

Not only is there no other place like Rev’d Up Fun Downriver, but there are also few like it in the nation as attested to by their 2nd place award from the American Amusement Machine Association. This award is based on many factors such as cleanliness, staff attentiveness, as well as the overall facility quality.

In their two years since opening, Rev’d Up Fun has been a big hit. With plenty of plans for future growth, this is sure to be a prominent destination for folks Downriver and beyond for a long time to come.
