JABRO CARPET ONE
One of the truest tests of a good business is their longevity. In this day and age of online shopping and a shift from brick and mortar, mom-and-pop shops to e-commerce, Jabro Carpet One Floor and Home swims against the current. This November, the company celebrated its 65th anniversary in the Downriver community, setting the standard in hometown business as well as being the premier dealer of flooring in the area.
From day one the goal was always to create a satisfactory customer experience.

Joseph and John Jabro first set up shop in 1953, on Ford Ave. in Wyandotte. They gained experience by helping their father, James, clean and install carpets in the greater Detroit area. They decided to go into the flooring business themselves, and Jabro Bros. was born.
From 1958-1988, the brothers operated out of a larger showroom on Fort St., eventually moving to their current showroom on Northline Rd., Southgate. Through great service, impeccable installation, and an eye fixed on their customer’s needs, Jabro Bros. established a reputation as “the premier floorcovering source in the Downriver area,” In 1996, Joseph Jabro retired from the company, and John took over Jabro Bros. joining CCA Global, affiliating the company with the largest floorcovering cooperative in the country.
Though the business itself has grown, the focus has not changed. From day one, their goal was to create a satisfactory customer experience. They put so much value on the service they offer that they made it a part of their “Jabro Difference” mission. They believe that the “Jabro Difference” is the foremost reason customers choose them. They truly offer the total package, “selection, service, and value,” says Sarah D’Ziurman, sales professional.
Jabro Carpet One Floor and Home continues to evolve with the current business environment. In 2003, Jabro was selected by Invista as a Stainmaster Flooring Center because of “its reputation for selling quality goods, superior sales assistance, and the best of installations,” according to D’Ziurman. Ownership of the family company switched hands as well around this time, with new co-owners/partners: Greg (who is now retired), Gloria Jabro, and Sheree Jabro Smith. One thing hasn’t changed though, and that’s the “Jabro way.”
The Jabro family’s commitment to the Downriver community stretches further than just simply providing great floorcovering products to their customers. They have given back to the community by supporting school fundraisers, local sports and drama groups, and fundraising for senior facilities.
For a family-owned business, now with its second and third generation of leadership, Jabro Carpet One is still the Downriver area’s leader in floorcovering – providing the ‘best’ service for 65 years and aren’t slowing down.
