RIVERGATE TERRACE | RIVERGATE HEALTH CARE CENTER
Rivergate Health Care Center held a recognition session for veterans at their facility earlier this year. 10 veterans were in attendance. Rivergate Terrace did the same and 15 veterans attended. Both were warm up sessions for the formal event that was held in early June.
Rivergate Health Care Center and River- gate Terrace recognize the special sacrifice by local veterans
The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines were all represented by veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as states-side tours in Alaska, Washington D.C. and Oklahoma. Their ages ranged from 67-97. One thing they all had in common was comradeship. Planning for the June event was the purpose of the meeting and the men participated and were looking forward to the celebration.
When asked to share something unique about their time in the service, one veteran mentioned that his Division Commander was General George S. Patton, at the time when Patton said, “Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way.” Another veteran spoke about having flown in several combat missions with Jimmy Stewart, the Jimmy Stewart of the film “It’s A Wonderful Life”.
Jamie Bridges was the staff member who hosted the meeting at the Rivergate Health Care Center. Rivergate Terrace staff who were involved in their meeting were Ann Marie Silva; Alex Giles; and Mellisa and Dan Martin. The Martins are veterans. These employees are fully engaged in caring for these residents who have made Rivergate their home. There’s a lot of teamwork going on in this complex and we are sure the veterans, who know a thing or two about being part of a team, are appreciative of it.
“Let’s remember that years ago these veterans raised their right hand and took an oath,” says Jennifer Crosthwaite, marketing director of both facilities. “When we see a veteran let’s offer to shake their hand and thank them for their service.”
