Good Works – Holiday Meals for Seniors
Dear Friend and Supporter,
Thank you so much for everything you have done to help The Senior Alliance in our mission to help older adults and persons with disabilities remain in their own home. As we begin to close out 2017, it’s important to take pride in the thousands of individuals we’ve been able to provide assistance to this past year that would not have been possible without your help.
Unfortunately, one of our most requested programs, Holiday Meals for Seniors, has seen a sharp spike in demand this holiday season. With already more than 1,500 homebound seniors requesting a meal just for Thanksgiving, we are working hard to meet this need. We are expecting that Christmas Day will also have the same, if not higher need.
The Holiday Meals for Seniors program provides a hot, nutritious meal to seniors on days when the regular Meals on Wheels service is not available. Not only does this program help feed seniors in need, but it serves as a critical tool to help combat social isolation for an at-risk population.
This is why we have started a fundraising campaign, exclusively to support this program. Every $5 raised, provides one meal to a senior. With Giving Tuesday just around the corner on November 28th, it is a perfect time to make a donation that directly impacts those in need. To help in our efforts, and to make it easier for people to donate, we created a Crowdrise campaign. Our goal of $35,000, will be enough to provide meals throughout the year! Through the generosity of individuals who’ve already donated and the DTE Foundation, we are already past our half-way point.
If you would like to contribute, the link to our Crowdrise campaign is www.crowdrise.com/holidaymeals2017. We can also accept Paypal (firstname.lastname@example.org) , or checks sent to our office at The Senior Alliance, 5454 Venoy Rd., Wayne, MI 48184.
Thank you again, and have a joyous holiday season!D
