Financial education is important for the entire banking community, and Advantage One Credit Union of Brownstown is taking strides to make financial information available to its customers. Recently the credit union has focused on cultivating the services it can offer local businesses.
In 2015 Advantage One added business development to its list of services. “Our goal was to establish long-lasting relationships with both current and new ‘preferred partners’ across the Downriver area,” says Jessica Workman, who serves as the credit union’s business development director.
“The foundation of the program centers on products and services already available at the credit union, such as our credit score analysis program and referral program,” she continues. “From there we added financial education to the mix and the convenience of delivering our services to a preferred partner’s place of business. This allows local employers, regardless of their asset size or employee count, a completely free benefit for their staff.”
Workman adds that the credit union’s most utilized program is its financial education services. “We are finding that companies really enjoy the ability to help their employees at no cost,” Workman says. “Through these financial seminars, we are helping to improve the quality of life of employees around the Downriver area.”
While the business development function has only existed at the credit union since 2015, Advantage One has served the community since 1952.
“Our credit union continues to reach unprecedented levels in net worth, overall earnings, and deposit growth,” Workman notes. “In a very competitive market, we continue to achieve record growth in all areas, including a 4% membership growth this year.”
