D Profile Magazine is proud to present the inaugural Summer D Vine Tour. Embarking from Downriver on Sunday, August 14th, the tour will visit four new restaurants and wineries in downtown Detroit. Your ticket provides you with free wine samplings and small bites at each location.
It’s a fitting time to dine in the Motor City. The city has seen over 125 new restaurants open since 2013, and while there may not be time to visit them all, we’ve chosen a few of our favorites to share with our readers. Learn more about the Summer D Vine Tour stops below:
Included with ticket purchase: Limo bus transportation from Wyandotte (150 Maple St./12:30 p.m.) and Detroit (511 Beaubien St./1 p.m.); Special wine tastings at each location; food samplings; limo bus transportation between venues.
Located in Detroit’s historic Ashley building, Vertical Detroit boasts of more than 250 wine vintages a space characterized by brick walls and wooden tables. Appetizers, such as duck fat fries, house made focaccia, and salmon, and small plates, including steak and eggs, duck confit, and Amish chicken, are locally sourced. Owned by James and Remy Lufty of Fine Wine Source in Livonia, Vertical Detroit’s wine bar provides wine flights and specialty cocktails in addition to other drinks.
Central Kitchen + Bar
At Central Kitchen + Bar, partnerships with local businesses are essential to providing quality food and creative spins on its classic American fare. Such partnerships include Zingerman’s, Tocco Produce, Red Goose Spice Company, and Avalon International Breads, to name a few. The restaurant, located next to Cadillac Square in downtown Detroit, offers a relaxed atmosphere, and its menus boast of impressive breadth and pleasant variety brunch, lunch, dinner, and even drink options.
Downtown Louie’s Lounge
Downtown Louie’s Lounge is parked just a block away from Grand Circus Park and serves a variety of new American fare. Owned by the owners of Louie’s Ham and Corned Beef, the restaurant has been lauded for the quality of its menu, a complementary mesh of classic dishes and unique drinks. Yet Downtown Louie’s Lounge has also gained fame for its ambience and decor, the results of a several-year renovation that transformed the building into the period tavern it is today.
House of Pure Vin
House of Pure Vin, situated on Woodward Avenue in the heart of downtown, brings expertise to the Motor City’s world of wine. Partnering with one of three master sommeliers in Michigan, the new wine shop, seeks to educate patrons on the best wines for each occasion. In addition to an extensive selection of wines, House of Pure Vin continually hosts events, offering tastings in-store and introducing guests to vineyards from around the world.
